Today we are excited to announce another 5 high calibre hires; Anderson Chow, Nik Burns, Carlos Cacho, Andrew MacFarlane and Manroop Singh. They will start over the next 3 months and take the team to 18 publishing analysts in Australia, and 24 across NZ & Australia.
We are working to attain full coverage across >220 companies in NZ & Australia progressively over 2021.
Anderson Chow will be joining Jarden as Head of Industrials Research. Anderson has worked in the financial industry for 23 years. Most recently he was the Global Head of Industrials Research for HSBC based in Hong Kong for about 10 years, coordinating a team of 22 analysts in Asia and Europe. Led by Anderson, the HSBC Asia Industrials Research team was ranked number 1 in the Asiamoney Brokers Poll in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. He won the Thomson Reuters Best Stock Picker Award for the automotive and machinery sector in 2017 for the Hong Kong/ mainland China market. Previously he spent 6 years at Macquarie Securities Asia as Head of Asia Infrastructure and Transport Research and was highly ranked in Institutional Investor and Greenwich surveys. He holds a Master's Degree in Commerce from the University of Sydney, Australia. Anderson started his career as an equity analyst at Accident Compensation Corporation in New Zealand in 1998.
Nik Burns will be joining Jarden Australia as Head of Energy Research. Nik brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, including 10 years as a sell side research analyst and 18 years in the Australian upstream oil and gas sector. Nik is returning to research after 2 years as Head of Investor Relations at Beach Energy, an ASX100 oil and gas company based in Adelaide. Prior to his role at Beach, Nik was a highly rated energy and utilities research analyst at UBS Australia for almost 6 years. His industry experience includes roles at Santos, Woodside and RISC. After commencing his career as a reservoir engineer, Nik's career diversified into roles encompassing valuation, M&A, business development and strategy advice. With a unique combination of technical, commercial, financial and equities experience in the energy sector, Nik is an ideal senior hire for Jarden Australia's research team. A New Zealander by birth, Nik holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree (Honours) from the University of Adelaide.
Carlos Cacho will join as Chief Economist for Jarden Group Australia in 2021. Carlos spent 3 years as Australian Economist in the top ranked UBS Australia research team, and 5 years at Colonial First State Global Asset Management. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Economics, as well as a First Class Honours in Economics from the University of New South Wales.
Andrew MacFarlane will join Jarden in the property team. He has over 10 years’ experience in Real Estate & Finance industries spanning equity research, private equity, and capital transactions. Andy was most recently Strategy and Capital Transactions Manager at AVID Property Group and has also held roles at Proprium Capital Partners, and Goldman Sachs JBWere including as Executive Director, Real Estate Global Investment Research. Andy has a Bachelor of Business (Property), and while at university held a scholarship at Goodman Group.
Manroop Singh will join Jarden in the technology team. He started his career at KPMG as an auditor in the financial services team, auditing a mixture of property, insurance and diversified financial clients. He subsequently moved to AMP Capital into the Public Markets graduate program before focusing on fixed income, managing domestic and global credit portfolios and covering structured credit. His most recent role was Associate Portfolio Manager within Macquarie Investment Management, managing both domestic and global fixed income portfolios.
